The forest area Tiergarten in Siegen-Weidenau is over 100 hectares in size. Its origins date back to the 17th century, when Prince Johann Moritz zu Nassau-Siegen (1604 - 1679) had a game park created on the Wellersberg. Since 2013, the university city of Siegen has been transforming the area into an "Adventure Forest Historical Tiergarten", where environmental education goals are implemented and interactive use is emphasized.
