Great Circular Path

The Wendland is known for its numerous round villages: villages where the houses are arranged in a circular pattern. On the Great Round Village Trail, you will experience the charming atmosphere of the villages. The origin of this village form is still mysterious today. What is certain is that it was the Wends, also known as Slavs, who lived in the round villages from the 12th century onwards. Lübeln is one of the most famous round villages. Here, the round village trail begins through a culturally shaped agricultural landscape. In the Wendland Round Village Museum, you will experience how people mastered their rural daily life around 200 years ago. The Great Round Village Trail also takes you past many artist studios through the round villages of Gühlitz, Jabel, Satemin, Reetze, and finally to Lüchow (Wendland). The half-timbered houses of Lüchow are architecturally consistent, as the entire city was rebuilt in just two years in 1811 after a fire. The 1,000-year-old city history is told in the Amtsturm-Museum Lückow.
