Description by the author

Start and parking: The circular tour can be started from various locations.

Tour description: The Kulmbach region is home to three of the five "danced" lime trees in Germany. These fascinating and unique tree houses in Peesten, Limmersdorf and Langenstadt are connected by the approximately 31-kilometre-long Tanzlinden cycle route. The well-maintained route leads through the scenic and varied area at the foot of the Görauer Anger into the Rotmaintal valley.

Route route: Beginning the circular cycle route from Tanzlinde Peesten in an anti-clockwise direction, you reach the highest point of the route at 455 m at the foot of the Görauer Anger after around three kilometers, shortly after the village of Lindenberg. You will be rewarded with wonderful views of the Franconian Forest and, beyond the summit, the Fichtelgebirge mountains. Via Kasendorf and Thurnau, you follow the former railroad line to Limmersdorf, where you take a short detour from the cycle path to the Tanzlinde lime tree in the center of the village. After Limmersdorf, the route continues steadily downhill for approx. 5 km to Neuenreuth am Main, then leads along the Rotmaintal valley to Langenstadt to the youngest of the three Tanzlinden. Before you reach the village of Proß via Hutschdorf, Döllnitz and Krumme Fohre, you can enjoy views as far as Plassenburg Castle in Kulmbach. From Proß, the Tanzlinden circular cycle route leads uphill back to Peesten.

Marking: Sign "KU 16"
