ÉGLISE SAINT-AMÉ

Saint-Amé church was inaugurated for the Assumption in 1860 and consecrated 3 years later. It is dedicated to Saint Amé de Remiremont, founding saint of the Saint-Mont, and Saint-Blaise

The interior layout and furnishings date from 1905.

The previous church, built in the late 14th century, was a chapel attached to a hospital. It served as a parish church for 3 centuries. It was succeeded by a second, smaller church in 1729. As it was too small in summer to accommodate all the curists, it had to be replaced.

So, in 1858, major reconstruction work began, based on plans by architect Léon-Charles Grillot, and submitted to the renowned architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc for review. This new reconstruction was initially opposed by local residents, who considered the work too costly. It was therefore Emperor Napoleon 3 who made the decision and partly financed the work, which was completed in 1863.

It was listed as a Monument Historique in 1995, following the classification of all its furnishings in 1982.
