The Anneville estate was built in 1851. Did you know that both Prince Bernhard and Queen Wilhelmina once stayed here? In the last months of the war, Anneville was requisitioned by the Germans and used as a bakery, particularly around the Coach House. After the liberation of the southern Netherlands, Anneville was the residence of Prince Bernhard until April 1945, when he had his headquarters in Breda. After his departure, Anneville became the residence of Queen Wilhelmina for about six weeks on 3 May 1945. It was a special place for her because here the news of the capitulation of the Germans in the Netherlands reached her.
