W2022 Along the Rothenbach, Vlodrop station

Very beautiful and varied walk through the Meinweg National Park along the grounds of the former monastery of Sankt Ludwig (where the Maharishi European Research University (MERU) is currently located). Furthermore, the route alternates over heath and through forests to the border in the hamlet of Rothenbach. Subsequently, it goes over the other (German) bank of the Rothenbach, largely along winding paths beside the meandering stream, to the Dahlheimer Mühle and back to Vlodrop Station. There are dining options along the way in Rothenbach, at the Dahlheimer Mühle (open only Fri-Sat-Sun outside the season), and at the starting/ending point (hotel St. Ludwig and café Van Kempen). The last two establishments are irregularly open outside the season, but very worth a visit for their decor/ambiance: you feel transported back to the 1960s.
