This route largely follows the trajectory described by Gijs Wilbrink in his book Strangwater. A walk.
The challenging day hike (which we recommend taking two days for) takes you through the Achterhoek, along the Oude IJssel, from Isselburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany, to Doetinchem. And it follows the walking junctions.

Instead of being on a defined dike, he ends up in reed and mud. He encounters fences and old industrial and private lands. The unclear hiking route thus becomes a story of boundaries, the struggle for one's own home, the planting of the flag. But this route does follow the walking junctions and offers you a slightly more civilized version.
