On the outskirts of Sappemeer lies the beautiful estate 'Welgelegen'. In the garden of the estate, which is designed entirely in the French style, you can wander freely. The path leads along a viewing hill from where you can see the entire Adriaan Trip forest. You also walk alongside a straight canal that symbolizes the peat extraction and the many activities that this area used to know.
