Christmas Weekend Hike 14.3 km

For the lovers of Veluwe, a real forest walk, but also with the variety of heathlands, farmland, and the beautiful estate Boeschoten. Garderen is an agricultural enclave, surrounded by forests and a tourist spot with many bungalow parks at the edge of the forest. In the center, there are numerous dining establishments. Only at the end of the walk do we pass by dining establishments, so we will refresh ourselves first. We hike along a narrow footpath through farmland to Speulderbos. Before long, we walk along the Duinen, a strikingly hilly ridge with gnarled oak trees. After that, the path continues for several kilometers along broad forest paths that were once part of a network of trade routes in Veluwe. The centuries-old Speulderbos is one of the most beautiful and oldest forests in the Netherlands. Curved, wonderfully grown oak and beech trees characterize the atmosphere. After crossing the N797, we arrive in the agricultural neighborhood of Koudhoorn. The fields here are protected by various means against the greed of wild boars. We continue our way along the forest edges of the magnificent estate Boeschoten. Via the location Boeschoterweg with its many forest villas and through the nature reserve Wilde Kamp, we head back towards Garderen.
