La iglesia de San Leonhard en Zoutleeuw (siglos XIII - XVI) fue construida como reemplazo de una capilla románica que aquí fue levantada en 1125 por benedictinos de Vlierbeek. La mayor parte está construida en estilo gótico, las partes más antiguas son románicas (ventana en la fachada oeste). Las dos torres están conectadas entre sí por un pasillo sobre la nave central.
El elegante campanario de la intersección contiene un carillón con 24 campanas. Esta iglesia con sus torres pertenece desde 1999 al Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO.
La iglesia escapó a la furia iconoclasta. También sobrevivió prácticamente ilesa a la Revolución Francesa porque tres canónigos prestaron juramento de lealtad al régimen francés. También se le llama el relicario de Brabante.
