El Templo de Apolo Patroos es un pequeño templo jónico en ruinas, situado al noroeste del Ágora de Atenas, cerca de la Stoa de Zeus.[1]

Patrôos significa Paterno, en el sentido de perteneciente a los antepasados. Este dios se considera padre de Ion, fundador de la raza jonia, que incluía a los atenienses,[2]
y protector de las familias.[3]
El sobrenombre de Patroos habría sido dado al dios por los atenienses después de la llegada de Ion, cuando se estableció en Atenas al ser sus reyes unos ineptos para la guerra.[4]
