Les Demerbroeken forment un vaste espace naturel dans la large vallée de la Demer, entre Testelt, Zichem, Averbode et Diest. On y traverse une plaine d'inondation vierge. En collaboration avec Natuurpunt, l'Agence pour la nature et les forêts travaille au développement d'une vaste réserve naturelle avec des roselières, alternant avec des prairies de fauche riches en espèces et des forêts de feuillus indigènes. Le Voortberg offre un panorama magnifique.
