Le pont Humber est le quatrième plus grand pont suspendu à travée unique au monde. Plus de 200 incidents de personnes sautant ou tombant du pont ont eu lieu depuis son ouverture en 1981, avec seulement cinq survivants. En conséquence, des plans ont été envisagés pour enfermer ou introduire des clôtures plus hautes le long des passerelles du pont.
