La storia di questa chiesa è legata a quella dell'abbazia di San Pietro nelle vicinanze, distrutta dalle truppe rivoluzionarie nel 1794. Chiesa funeraria, chiesa parrocchiale, collegiata, è stata un luogo di pellegrinaggio a san Ursmer, uno dei fondatori dell'abbazia nel VII secolo.
L'edificio è una preziosa testimonianza dell'arte carolingia o pre-romanica. Presenta un impianto a forma di croce latina con un falso transetto a ovest. La navata è la parte più antica della chiesa, il coro e la torre-portico risalgono all'XI secolo.
La cripta romanica, di tipo "a sala", è voltata su 15 nervature. Contiene i sarcofagi merovingi dei santi Ursmer ed Ermin e diverse lastre funerarie di abati dal XV al XVIII secolo.
Questa chiesa è classificata come patrimonio immobiliare eccezionale della Vallonia.
