Het Canal du Centre is de attractie bij uitstek in deze regio van Henegouwen. Dit kanaal verbindt Brussel via Nijvel met de Samber en moet een hoogteverschil van 89 meter overbruggen. Dit werd opgelost door 4 liften die elk ongeveer 16 meter niveauverschil ongedaan maken. Ze werden gebouwd voor schepen tot 300 ton. Deze liften zijn nu nog in werking. Je kan ze niet alleen bewonderen maar ook een boottocht maken en de werking live meemaken. Deze oude liften munten uit door hun eenvoudige werking volgens het principe van de communicerende vaten.
