Rietstro werd samengebonden tot een 'hen' en op het land te drogen gezet. Vandaag is De Strooyen Hen vooral synoniem voor een uitstapje naar 'hoe het vroeger was'. Na drie generaties is het ambacht fijngeslepen. In de kroeg kan je je bekwamen in het mannetjesspel terwijl je je in het restaurant kan laten overtuigen dat de Schrevebewoners heel wat meer verorberen dan een 'schelle van de zeuge'. Waar eerst een schommel en een glijbaan stonden, kunnen de kinderen vandaag ravotten in een omheinde speeltuin terwijl ma en pa op het groene terras genieten van de zon.
