De Burutwinkel vzw streeft naar een duurzame, sociale en leefbare wijk. Het is een geïntegreerde wijkwerking: ze willen de kwaliteit van het samenleven met, voor en door de bewoners in de wijk verhogen.
Ontmoeting, empowerment en actief burgerschap zijn begrippen die de werking kenmerken. Ze focussen op armoedebestrijding en sociale wijkontwikkeling en dit op een duurzame manier. Via dienstverlening, groep- en themawerk, vormingen, socio-professionele inschakeling en infomomenten over huisvesting, veiligheid, netheid, gezondheid, mobiliteit en luchtkwaliteit, werken ze aan bewonersparticipatie en actief burgerschap.
Ze gaan continu de dialoog aan met het beleid.
