Aan de overkant van de Leie (Oude Houtlei 1) ligt Café Labath. Er hangt veel volk rond op wat een overgangsgebied is tussen het trottoir en een terras. Als de bus passeert, blijkt dat minstens de helft op vervoer zat te wachten. De meesten zaten of hingen op een openluchtcanapé met rococo-achtige rugsteun of op de sokkel van een gigantische fonteinkelk (waar een boeket bloemen in staat). Het is straatmeubilair van de jonge ontwerper Theo De Meyer en het was onlangs genomineerd voor de Gentse architectuurprijzen. Het is gemaakt van lichte isolatieplaten, maar met zijn steenachtige coating ziet het er vervaarlijk zwaar uit.
