De Val d’Hérens is gespaard gebleven van bombastische skistations, hotels en appartementsblokken. De traditionele vallei is dan ook lust voor het oog, zowel in de zomer als in de winter. Het achtergronddecor is daarnaast wondermooi met vaak zicht op een van de mythische vierduizenders van de Alpen: La Dent Blanche. Deze sneeuwschoenwandeling in La Forclaz, een klein dorp bij de zijvallei van Ferpecle is ‘s winters een panoramische tocht.
