Dichter en filosoof Samuel Taylor Coleridge leefde hier in Londen. Hij was bekend als een wandelende dichter. Hij had niet alleen de behoefte om in de natuur te zijn maar schreef daar ook zijn gedichten. Net zoals de beroemde wetenschapper en ontdekkingsreiziger Alexander von Humboldt geloofde dat wetenschappers uit hun laboratoria tevoorschijn moesten komen als ze de natuur werkelijk wilden begrijpen, zo ook geloofde Samuel Taylor Coleridge dat de dichters de deur van hun studeerkamer moesten openen en door weilanden, over heuvels en langs rivieren moesten lopen.
