Het Panatheense Stadion of Panathinaiko was gastheer van de eerste moderne Olympische Spelen in 1896. Het Panatheense stadion is gereconstrueerd uit de overblijfselen van een oud Grieks stadion en is het enige grote stadion ter wereld dat volledig is gebouwd van wit marmer afkomstig van de berg Penteli in het noorden van Athene. Het is ook de plaats van aankomst van de Klassieke Marathon van Athene.
