De vereniging werd op 1 september 1955 opgericht als Don Bosco Sport Vereniging in Heugemerveld, een wijk in Maastricht. Eind 1998 werd de studentenvoetbalvereniging Red Socks opgenomen, waarna de uitleg van de letters DBSV is veranderd naar Don Bosco Studenten Voetbal.Sinds het MECC bestaat is het “Sportcomplex Heugem” de thuishaven, deze accommodatie wordt gedeeld met RKHSV .
