Helgendomsfiguren blev skabt i Atelier Thissen i Roermond. Det blev indviet i 1922 på Zandstaat som gave til pastor-dekan Joosten, der fejrede sit fyrre års præsteløb. På grund af byggeriet af den nye Sankt Martin kirke i 1953 måtte vejen udvides, og figuren skulle flyttes. Det blev et år senere rejst på den nuværende placering, og det blev restaureret i 2010.
