This is the oldest fort of the Brialmont rampart, built around 1860. It was meant to protect Antwerp from attacks. Now many associations have their offices here, as does the Academy. It is also the place to enjoy the outdoors. And that can be done not only by walking. Children can play in the playground forest. Skaters can practice tricks in Skate8, an indoor skatepark. And have you ever played disc golf? It is similar to traditional golf, but with a frisbee. Fort 3 is also ecologically important. Each year, many bats winter here, including some endangered species. Galloway cattle help to control the wild growth of Japanese knotweed around the fort.
