It was a first: Noorderkroon-Achel was the very first Belgian association to come up with a real planetary path. Everything was neatly calculated and laid out to scale.
The very first version consisted of panels with plexiglass, with artistically drawn planets in between. We are lucky to have a very skilled and artistic illustrator among us. Job Beeren has drawn and painted the entire planetary path three times. Twice we had to repair the entire Planetary Path due to vandalism. Currently, the panels are made of impact-resistant plastic. The Technical Service of the City Council of Hamont-Achel has milled all celestial bodies, and Job Beeren has colored the images as realistically as possible with special paints. The latest version is a hit; beautifully painted panels that are practically maintenance-free.
