The famous singer Ann Christy died of cervical cancer in 1984, at the age of 38. She was cremated and her ashes scattered in the cemetery of Meise. Ann Christy is still in the top lists of Dutch-language music such as in the Low Countries list. She became known with songs such as Happy Being, The Rose and Day Strange Man.
Her husband, Marc Hoyois, with whom she had a son, later remarried another singer, Liliane Saint-Pierre.
