On June 24, 1912, Pastor Heylen asked the then municipal administration for "the purchase of a plot of land located in Molenstraat between the garden of the old uninhabited rectory and the garden of the newly built rectory, to build a free girls' school there." Construction of the school with three classrooms and an accompanying convent for the sisters began as early as July 1912, all according to the design of J. Taeymans. The complex was registered in the land registry in 1913.
