The Green Belt Bruges - Damme cycling route introduces you to the varied environment around the world heritage city of Bruges. The 53 km tour offers a versatile mix of forests, castle parks, open landscapes with fields and meadows, perpendicular canals and picturesque villages . Also discover the many historical sights such as the Fort of Bavaria , the Abbey of Male and the castles of Tillegem and Loppem. Picnic areas, play areas and natural spots make the Green Belt Bruges an absolute winner!
Start at one of the starting places in Steenbrugge (Baron Ruzettelaan), Damme (Oude Sluissedijk), Varsenare (Hof van Straeten) and Oostkamp (Siemenslaan 1) or at the Tillegem and Ryckevelde domains. You reach the route from the city center via the approach route along the Ghent-Oostende Canal.
The route is signposted in both directions.
The route as drawn here starts in Oostkamp to reach the culinary Damme after about 25 km . A perfect stopover for those who love culture and gastronomy. Both Jabbeke and Loppem further on the route have catering that makes a person crave a stopover...
