This route will be a major challenge for many cyclists. This is mainly due to the slightly more than 3,000 metres of elevation gain, spread over a distance of 124 kilometres. In addition, many climbs are utterly steep, in particular the Thier de Coo (15% for the steepest 300 metres), Les Hézalles (17%), the Stockeu (15%) and the Redoute (15%). The latter two are normally part of the route of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège classic. In total, 15 côtes await the cyclist, so there are hardly any longer sections for an easy ride.
The tour takes place in and around the Parc naturel des Sources. Especially the high parts look rough and deserted. The lower parts are more gentle with the typical Ardennes alternation of forests, fields and meadows. Most roads of the proposed loop are quiet in terms of traffic.
The following côtes are climbed along the way: Chession-northwest, Chevron, Ancienne Barrière-northwest, Thier de Coo, Les Hézalles, Wanne-south, Stockeu, Amermont, Rosier-east, Chemin des Moutons, part of La Vecquée-north, Redoute, Chambralles, Niaster and part of Parc Artisanale de Harzé-west.
