The Prosper Van Langendonckpad in Kampenhout (Relst)

In 1995, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the death of poet, essayist and critic Prosper Van Langendonck (1862-1920), this walk was set out. He was best known as the founder of the literary magazine 'Van Nu en Straks' (1893-1901) that renewed Flemish literature. Van Langendonck, born in Brussels to Brabant's Kempen parents, spent his youth and as an adult alternating between the city of Brussels and the countryside. In Relst he regularly spent his holidays with blacksmith Vanderlinden in the 'Op 't Sandvliet' branch. He walked there a lot and this walk wants to pay tribute to the poet about whom August Vermeylen, also associated with Van-Nu-en-Straks, wrote: 'I cannot reread the verses of Van Langendonck, without seeing again and again that bowed pale forehead, in which tragic fate had grooved with his granger, and those witty-soft eyes, those courageous, at the same time shy and faithful look, which sometimes had a strange glow burning in it.'
