The Lipse walk in Haacht (Tildonk)

A nice walk along the Leuven-Dijle canal, the Sas van Tildonk and places that remind of WWI (Dijlelinie) and WWII. The route partially follows and crosses the Lipsebeek three times, from which it takes its name.

The Lipsebeek "rises" in the seepage zone of the Kastanjebos in Winksele-Delle. It flows into the Leibeek near the Haachts Broek. The main side stream is the Hoge Beek, which rises in Winksele and joins it in Tildonk, near the Bertrodehof.

Tildonk : Tildunc (1129) - tuil = forest, trees, thickets and donk = exaltation.

On Kruineikestraat, 5, on the ground floor of the monastery building of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk, the 'Great War Experience Centre' focuses on Flemish Brabant war history. Historical persons, life stories, anecdotes, photographs and objects are central, but not in the classic museum way.

The Monastery Brasserie Castel Sant'Angelo is also connected to the Experience Centre: open every day from 10 am to 10 pm except Monday from 11 am.
