Welcome to our rural borough of Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove. Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove (1172, Oudenhoua sancti Gaugerici) takes its name from the community that gradually expanded around a court that has 'always' stood (from old), Oudenhove is a contraction of the 'old court'. Popularly called 'Sente Goorens'. The first member of the official municipality name refers to the patron saint, namely Saint Géry. The route starts at the church where there are a number of parking spaces. Here is the smelly stone. When you scratch the bluestone, a smelly smell is released.

The walk takes you to our neighborhood municipality Brakel with the Berendries, well-known slope in numerous cycling races. After about 6 km you reach the Miners' Path, a road verge reserve and also the paved part of the former railway line Zottegem - Brakel - Elzele (Ellezelles). In the past, the "Fosttreintje" brought miners from Zottegem and surroundings to the Borinage (Hainaut coal mines) via this route. The railway was abolished in 1963. Since 1978, a section (from the Slijpstraat in Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove to Opbrakel) has been made available to walkers and cyclists as a recreational road.

Sint Goriks is 1 of the smaller boroughs of Zottegem with an active association life. Every year the equestrian parade takes place.
