Gastersche Diep

Gastersche Diep is a stream in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The stream is part of the catchment area of the Drentsche Aa.The Gastersche Diep is a continuation of the Andersche Diep and the Rolderdiep. Together they form the eastern main stream of the Drentsche Aa. Just before the village of Gasteren, a short branch joins the stream, which rises in the Gastersche Holt The stream flows along the west side of the village. Originally, a branch of the stream ran closer to the village, but that branch has come to a standstill due to silting. Remnants of that branch are the Voorste- and the Achterste Veen in the Gasterse Duinen. Just northeast of the village, the Gastersche Diep flows into the Oudemolensche Diep. This confluence of both main branches of the Drentsche Aa is known as Tweediepskolk.
