Il simbolo della ruota lo puoi vedere ovunque, sui souvenir, sulle caramelle, sul bellissimo battente della porta della chiesa di San Huberto, sulle griglie delle fogne e su una bella statua in Burgplatz. Sebbene ci siano diverse leggende che ne spiegano l'origine, la battaglia di Worringen è la più conosciuta. Düsseldorf era nel 1135 solo un semplice villaggio contadino, ma nel 1288 acquisì i diritti municipali dopo la battaglia di Worringen. I cittadini e i bambini erano così entusiasti che iniziarono a fare ruote di gioia.
