Livinus werd in 842 heilig verklaard. Zijn gebeente zou in 1007 van Houtem naar Gent zijn overgebracht, waar het in 1578 verloren ging bij de Tweede Beeldenstorm. Deze fietsroute is een traject dat zijn gebeente zou gevolgd (kunnen) hebben. Maar het is al een tijdje geleden om dit nog na te gaan. Wat zeker is is dat dit traject een van de mooiste fietstrajecten is tussen het Sint-Livinuskappelletje in Sint-Lievens-Houtem en de Sint-Baafsabdij te Gent waar Lvinus zou vertoefd hebben voor hij kwam prediken in de streek tussen Gent-Aalst-Ninove.
