Briennon is a French commune with 1,719 inhabitants in the Loire department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It belongs to the Roanne arrondissement and the Charlieu canton. Briennon is located about twelve kilometers north of Roanne on the western bank of the Loire, which forms the eastern commune boundary. The Canal de Roanne à Digoin runs through the commune. A curiosity is the confluence of the Jarnossin River as a right tributary into the Loire. At this point, the commune area actually extends to the other bank of the Loire, bordering the commune of Pouilly-sous-Charlieu.
