This enchanting beech forest is a popular forest with hikers and photographers. If the foliage allows golden beams of sunlight to pass through, you'll understand why. Despite
on the steep forest slopes you can walk nice and flat along the Geleenbeek. It meanders beautifully through a landscape with orchards, drinking water pools and hedges full of birds.
The chance of seeing it is small, but the Stammenderbos is a habitat for the largest beetle species in the Netherlands: the stag beetle. Also the rare corn wolf
occurs here. Fear not: this is a fluffy, wild hamster that lives on fallen grains.
