Suances es un municipio de Cantabria, situado en la costa occidental de dicha región. Limita al norte con el mar Cantábrico, al oeste con Santillana del Mar, al sur con Polanco y al este con la ría de San Martín de la Arena, desembocadura de los ríos ya unidos Saja y Besaya. Al otro lado de la ría de San Martín de la Arena se encuentra la playa de Cuchía del municipio de Miengo.[1]
