La fattoria “Nido delle cicogne”, ai margini del prezioso vallone di Abeek, è secondo la tradizione locale il luogo di nascita di Pieter Bruegel il Vecchio. L'edificio originale risale al XIII secolo, ma fu ricostruito nel 1866, dopo un incendio.
Nel XV secolo, il “Nido delle cicogne” apparteneva ai conti di Hoorn. Un viale alberato collegava la fattoria a un mulino ad acqua lungo l'Abeek. Questo mulino fu trasferito al Museo Provinciale all'aperto di Bokrijk
