Saffenberg var en herlighed inden for det Hellige Romerske Rige, som ikke var indplaceret i en krets.
Saffenburg blev bygget i det 11. århundrede af greverne Adolf af Nörvenich og Adalbert af Saffenburg og nævnes første gang i 1081. I 1704 blev borgen rullet ned. Siden 2004 er de forfaldne murrester blevet saneret.
