Die Zahnradbahn Stuttgart wurde am 23. August 1884 eröffnet und verbindet den Stadtteil Heslach im Stadtbezirk Süd, also das Stadtzentrum im Tal, mit dem 1908 eingemeindeten Stadtbezirk Degerloch. Sie ist meterspurig nach dem System Riggenbach gebaut und wird von der Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG betrieben. Im Volksmund wird die Bahn Zacke oder Zacketse genannt, sie gilt als Stuttgarter Wahrzeichen.
