Dozinghem Military Cemetery

The Casualty Clearing Station or evacuation hospital known as Dozinghem was situated at a junction of the road and rail network behind the front. It was at the end of what was referred to as the 'collection zone' and marked the start of the casualties' evacuation from danger. The C.C.S. was not far from the Sint Sixtus abbey, where many troops found shelter and accommodation. Dozinghem was one of three major evacuation hospitals in the area.

The cemetery was used by the C.C.S.’s for 9 months, until the German Spring Offensive in March 1918.

The cemetery contains the graves of 3,058 British soldiers, 6 Australians, 81 Canadians, 14 New Zealanders, 15 South Africans and 65 Germans. Three labourers from the Chinese Labour Corps are also buried here.
