El cap Mendocino és un cap de la costa del Pacífic d'Amèrica del Nord, situat a la costa nord de l'estat de Califòrnia, en el tram conegut com a Lost Coast , al comtat de Humboldt. És el punt més occidental de la costa californiana .
Ha sigut un punt de referència per a la navegació marítima des del segle xvi, quan els galions de Manila arribaven a la costa nord-americana en aquest tram després de creuar l'oceà Pacífic seguint els corrents i vents predominants de l'oest. Des d'aquí varen seguir vorejant la costa cap al sud fins a arribar a Acapulco, Mèxic, on van finalitzar el viatge.
