Chapel of the fever

The chapel of Our Lady of Ter Biest is also known as the Koortskapel because, even today, people come here to pray for healing from fever. Maps indicate that there was already a chapel at this location before 1567. For three centuries, the chapel experienced a history of decay, (re)construction, and destruction. The current chapel was built in 1893 and is perhaps the fourth one at this site. It was heavily damaged by a storm in 1983, but it was restored in 1987. The chapel has a dual structure. The nave, with an ornate roof finial, measures 8 by 3.5 m internally; to the east, there is a small and lower, three-sided closed choir measuring 2 by 3 m.
