The Nordschleife is the oldest part of the Nürburgring racetrack in the Eifel, opened in 1927. It is often colloquially referred to as "The Ring" or "The Green Hell."
Since May 2, 2010, it has been operated by Nürburgring Automotive GmbH, alongside the modern Grand Prix circuit and other motorsport facilities and recreational amenities, which is owned 50% by the Lindner Group and 50% by property developer Mediinvest.
