Bruges beer tour

When drawing up my City Guide Historic Center of Bruges , the link of which you can find here , I was surprised by the rich beer history of this city. I inevitably had to think back to my godson Mathijs to whom this walk is dedicated... Enjoy the Duvelorium Grand Beer Café!

That there were 54 breweries in 1441 (see the evolution here) is striking, especially when you know that there are only 3 breweries today.

The annual Bruges beer festival in April contributes to the tradition in the city.

I have filtered out the sights that can be linked to beer from the Bruges City Guide to arrive at this beer tour.

The tour starts at 't Zand. Those who can't wait can quench their first thirst on the Kapucijnenplein on this cozy square. Soon we arrive at the Halve Maan brewery , which by the way can be visited and has a beautiful brasserie .

Second in line is the Bourgonge des Flandres microbrewery . Also to visit, and with perhaps the most beautiful terrace in Bruges with a view of the Rozenhoedkaai and a little further the Huydevettersplein with its numerous terraces.

Past the fish market and the green rei, it goes to the food street par excellence: the Predikherenrei with, among other things, the starred restaurants of Geert - Van Hecke. Time to lay a stock for the rest of the day...

We storm through the cozy Jan Van Eyckplein, let the chocolate museum and the fries museum pass us by to stand at a closed door of cellar café Le Trappiste that only opens at 5 pm...

Don't worry: The Eiermarkt is nearby, a square full of cozy cafes.

Once we have arrived at the market, we can start with the heavier work: Duvelorium Grand Beer Café in the Historium naturally serves Duvel.

Beer brasserie and beer café Cambrinus serves 400 beers and in Delaneys Irish Pub you can taste a Guinness, possibly during a live performance.

Hopefully we will still find Estaminet de Garre in the narrow alley of the same name ...

Hopefully our brains are still clear enough to process the data in the Biermuseum Bruges Beer Experience .

On to Café Brugs Beertje , where 300 beers are already waiting. A chocolate from Dominique Persoone's The chocolate Line can spoil the taste buds to be able to digest a St. Bernard by the barrel at Café La Casita .

Back to the 't Zand where we can stay in the Bras Café until the early hours ...
