El Valle Ilse es un valle salvaje y romántico al suroeste de Ilsenburg. El Ilse nace cerca de la cima del Brocken a casi 1000 metros y fluye a través de un paisaje rocoso bizarro hacia el norte. La forma en que el camino sigue el pequeño río de montaña es uno de los senderos más pintorescos y variados de la sierra de Harz. Lleva el nombre del famoso poeta Heinrich Heine, quien una vez caminó a lo largo del Ilse desde la montaña Brocken hasta Ilsenburg.
