Det pavelige patristiske institut Augustinianum er et institut for teologihistorie fra den gamle kirke, grundlagt i 1969.

Augustinianum står i direkte forlængelse af Studium Generale Romanum, som blev oprettet i det 14. århundrede ved klosteret ved kirken Sant’Agostino i Campo Marzio. I det 16. århundrede blev den berømte Biblioteca Angelica, grundlagt af augustineren Angelo Rocca da Arcevia, tilsluttet, men blev beslaglagt af den italienske stat i 1873. Efter opløsningen af klosteret i 1873 flyttede augustinerordenen i 1882 hovedkontoret til renæssancepalæet til familien Cesi, som ligger lige ved siden af søjlerne på Peterspladsen. Collegio Internazionale Agostiniano di Santa Monica med fakulteterne teologi og kanonisk ret blev anerkendt som ordenshøjskole af pave Pius X i 1908.
