De Montagne de Bueren is een straat bestaande uit een grote trap van maar liefst 374 treden. De straat is 260 meter lang en bereikt een hoogte van 132 meter. Met het laagste deel dat op 62 meter boven zeeniveau ligt, overbrugt de trap 67 meter. De hellingsgraad is 28%. Hiermee is het de grootste trap van België. De trap werd aangelegd tussen 1875 en 1880 ter herinnering aan de 600 Franchimontezen die het leven lieten bij de Slag om Luik in 1468. Hierdoor krijgt de trap ook wel de bijnaam ‘600 escaliers’. De originele naam verwijst naar Vincent van Buren, een van de aanvoerders van de strijd. Volgens de legende zouden de Franchimontezen langs hier de berg beklommen hebben.
