La Vansa i Fórnols, també conegut com a Lavansa i Fórnols, és un municipi de la comarca de l'Alt Urgell. La capital és el poble de Sorribes de la Vansa. La Vansa o Lavansa, antigament documentat Labancia (segle IX), és d'origen incert probablement preromà pirinenc. Fórnols, antigament Furnols (segle XII), prové del llatí Furnulos diminutiu de furnos "forns", potser en el sentit de coves en forma de forn.
